Credit Union Branches and Contact Center will be closed on Monday, February 19, in observance of Presidents Day.

$1,000 College Scholarship Program

Our 1,000 Scholarship Program is designed to acknowledge exceptional students throughout the greater Los Angeles and San Diego areas. We will award 20 scholarships of $1,000 each (10 in the Los Angeles area and 10 in the San Diego area) to students who are motivated in their academic endeavors, active in their schools, and contributing to their community, giving back to others through their participation, service, and volunteer work. Submission of an essay and letter of recommendation will provide a testament to the character and abilities of the student applicant. Proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university in 2018 AND a W-9 tax form will be required before release of award funds.­­­

Applicant Qualifications

  • Graduating high school senior enrolling into a two- or four-year college OR community college student transferring into a four-year university
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA)
  • Evidence of community and/or school involvement

How to Apply

  • Fill out the online application for student's area of residence:
  • Attach the following two supporting documents the the online application. These documents must be typed or legibly printed.
    • A copy of your school transcript including your GPA and ACT or SAT scores (if applicable). Unofficial copies are acceptable.
    • A letter of recommendation from someone other than a parent/guardian who has experience working with you either through a school activity, job, or community involvement.
  • Provide a short essay that answers ONE of the three topics listed in the online application (maximum 700 words).
  • Application, supporting documents, and short essay must be submitted together by Friday, March 16, 2018, 11:59pm, Pacific Time.

Award Announcement

  • Award recipients will be announced on this webpage on April 6, 2018.
  • Recipients will also receive an email notification.
  • Recipients must provide proof of college/university enrollment by August 15, 2018, and a signed W-9 tax form to receive their award.

 

Note:  Applicants who are unable to submit their application online may print and complete a paper application. The application, along with all required attachments, must be received by the credit union scholarship committe no later thatn Friday, March 16, 2018, 11:59pm, Pacific Time.  The credit union is not responsible for mail which has been lost, mis-directed, or delayed. Do not deliver an application to a local credit union branch. Mail the application package to the following address:
